Job Description:

La Roche University invites applications for the position of Doctor of Nurse Anesthesia Practice Program Director.

This full-time, 12-month faculty position is primarily responsible for the direction and operation of the DNAP program. The Director provides strategic and operational leadership for the nurse anesthesia program, ensures the delivery of a high-quality educational experience that meets accreditation standards, and prepares students for advanced practice roles in nurse anesthesia.

  • Accreditation compliance

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily operations of the DNAP program Develop and execute a strategic vision for the program that aligns with the institution’s mission, values, and goals.
  • Represent the program within the institution, advocating for resources and support as appropriate.
  • Develop and manage the program’s budget, ensuring resource allocation aligns with strategic priorities and institutional guidelines.
  • Serve and represent the university on various internal and external boards and committees.
  • Plan and participate in recruitment and orientation of new faculty, lecturers, and students.
  • Oversee the student selection process to ensure alignment with program and institutional standards.
  • Create teaching assignments and semester scheduling.
  • Communicate essential information to academic and clinical faculty, other directors, and department chairs.
  • Provide mentorship, professional development, and performance evaluations for faculty and staff
  • Promote professional development, networking, and job placement support for program graduates Implement strategies to support student success, retention, and completion rates, including academic advising and access to necessary resources.
  • Maintain faculty, student, and program records while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Create and maintain student handbook documentation; review and oversee program policies and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable accreditation standards and requirements as set forth by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs (COA) Prepare for and lead accreditation review processes, including self-study preparation and necessary follow-up Ensure that the curriculum is current, evidence-based, and aligned with industry standards and accreditation requirements.
  • Develop, implement, supervise, and evaluate students’ clinical and didactic learning experiences.
  • Teach in classroom, online, and simulation laboratory settings, supporting excellence in teaching.
  • Serve as chair, committee member, or advisor for student scholarly projects.
  • Conduct course and student evaluations through class observations; counsel and advise students regarding performance in both clinical and didactic courses.
  • Plan and participate in recruitment and orientation of new faculty, lecturers, and students.
  • Provide mentorship, professional development, and performance evaluations for faculty and staff.
  • Obtain and maintain clinical site rotations.
  • Collaborate with the clinical coordinator to build and maintain partnerships with hospitals, clinics, and other healthcare institutions to secure high-quality clinical placements Assist with clinical site visits on an annual basis as needed Accurately track clinical experiences and ensure accuracy of clinical cases and NBCRNA transcript preparation.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Doctoral degree in nurse anesthesia, nursing, or a related healthcare field (Ph.D., DNP, or DNAP required).
  • Current unencumbered RN licensure and CRNA recertification by the NBCRNA.
  • Formal instruction in curriculum, evaluation, and instruction as per COA standards.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience as a CRNA, including at least 3 years in an academic or clinical teaching role.
  • Strong knowledge of nurse anesthesia education standards and accreditation requirements.
  • Demonstrated leadership, team-building, and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to build and sustain collaborative relationships with faculty, staff, students, and external partners.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Online teaching experience.
  • Prior leadership or administrative experience.
  • Experience with innovative, evidence-based, and technologically rich teaching strategies.
