The Centra Southside division of Centra Medical Group (CMG) anesthesia offers a care team model practice opportunity for the experienced CRNA who enjoys challenging cases, regional anesthesia, and other procedures. One Anesthesiologist currently supervises a mix of full time and PRN CRNAs staffing four ORs, a busy two room endoscopy suite, a bronchoscopy suite, and labor and delivery. A second anesthesiologist will be joining this growing service line by 2020 for a hybrid model of medical direction and medical supervision. Surgeons, hospitalists, and ER physicians round out the care team model when no anesthesiologist is available. Three general surgeons, three OBGyns, one urologist, two orthopedic surgeons, two ophthalmologists, one gastroenterologist, one pediatric dentist, and one pulmonologist offer a great case mix. Cardiac team to soon need anesthesia staffing for TEE. No hearts, no heads, and very rare trauma. CRNAs have lots of opportunity for independence, regional anesthesia procedures, and central venous access procedures. First call is taken by the CRNA staff with back up call provided by experienced CRNA or anesthesiologist. Anesthesiologist consultation available at all hours from either the medical director or a call physician. Labor epidural, regional block, and central venous access training will be provided but experience, and interest, in these skills is a plus. Familiarity and interest in ERAS protocols is also welcome.

Farmville is a vibrant and growing small town located in the heart of Virginia. Two reputable universities, Longwood and Hampden Sydney, bring culture and arts to the area and the 31 mile long High Bridge Trail offers great walking and cycling (new singletrack trails added) opportunities and is accessible right in the busy historic shopping district. Gorgeous countryside, rich history, good restaurants, a brewery, a hip updated hotel with rooftop bar, and a wine tasting room round out the fun. Richmond, Charlottesville, and Lynchburg are all between a 50 and 75 minute drive.

Job Description

Mercy Medical Center is seeking to hire 3-4 full-time CRNAs for an expanding OR. The position is 44 hrs per week (M-F). CRNAs will work in a collaborative environment with CRNAs evaluating their patients pre-operatively, formulating the anesthetic plan, and administering the anesthesia autonomously, including arterial and central lines and blocks. An anesthesiologist is available for consultation and help if needed. Approximately 20,000 cases are done annually. Cases include OB, spine, ortho, general surgery, GYN (oncology and benign), DaVInci, surgical oncology, plastic and breast surgery as well as fast-turnover cystoscopy and endoscopy cases. There is minimal amount of healthy pediatric cases, no cardiac or trauma. The majority of cases will be same day care or same day admit. Patients may range from ASA 1-4. Call is minimal, usually 5-10 shifts in a year; more is also available if desired. Other opportunities for overtime include coverage for elective cases on Saturday, weekend OB shifts, and occasional extra time during weekdays.

Benefits include 6 weeks of PTO which can be used for any time off (vacation, family leave, sick time, continuing education, etc), short and long-term disability insurance, health, dental, and vision insurance, and life insurance and a retirement plan. A retirement match is offered after the first year. In addition, an annual educational stipend of $2500 is also provided. Maryland state RN and CRNA licensing renewal fees, AANA fees, and malpractice insurance will be paid by Mercy Medical Center.
