Elmer J. Morrison, Jr. CRNA
1969-2008

Elmer "EJ" Morrison, 38, a lifelong resident of the Erie area, died accidently on Sunday evening January 20, 2008. He was born in Erie on November 7, 1969 a son of Elmer J. Morrison, Sr. and Vickie Sexton Morrison of Greene Township. A 1988 graduate of Seneca High School, he earned his BS degree from Edinboro University. He then completed his Master of Science in Nursing from Gannon University and the Hamot School of Anesthetia. EJ was a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist licensed since the Spring of 2000 working for the Anesthesiologists of Erie at the Hamot Medical Center. He recently was offered the position of Director of the School of Anesthesiology where he also taught classes. EJ was the recepient twice of the Joseph H. Carter, MD Award for Clinical Excellence and was a member of the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists. He had also worked at the Corry and Westfield, N. Y. Hospitals. He enjoyed all sports including wrestling, football, and playing Softball, last with the St. Joe's Club Championship Team. He was an avid archery hunter. But of all the things he enjoyed and did, the love of his life and favorite pastime was playing with his children which were his entire world. Whether it was playing chase, reading to them and putting them to bed, or snow mobiling there was nothing he would rather be doing. He built a beautiful play room for them and his last evening with the kids was swimming and playing at Peek'n Peak. In addition to his parents, survivors include his wife of over 6 years, Melissa Bessetti Morrison; a son, Corey James Morrison; and a daughter, Maya Rose Morrison, both at home; a brother, Michael Morrison and his wife Wendy of Waterford; a sister, Kimberley Morrison of Jacksonville, Fla.; maternal grandmother Charlotte Wise Sexton of Greene Township; his father and mother in law, Gordon and Paula DeMarco Bessetti of Venango Townsh ip; a sister in law, Colleen Barrett and her husband Matt of Atlantic, Pa.; three nieces, Grace Virginia Barrett, Maggie Mae and Taylor Nicole Morrison; a number of aunts, uncles, and cousins also survive. EJ was a good friend to many. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Orren and Violet Seely Morrison and his maternal grandfather Timothy Sexton
