Hello Pennsylvania CRNA's Announce your PANA District Meeting on www.pana.org I'd like to share with all District organizers that should they need help advertising their meetings, www.pana.org is available to accommodate. Send me specifics, and as District 1 recently did for their meeting this weekend (you can still sign up at the door!), I'll get your information up on the PANA homepage. If you have even minimal typing ability, you can add the specifics to the Continuing Education page if you're offering CEU's. I've even setup a Mapquest.com link to help attendees get there. It's Time to Volunteer and Run for a PANA Office! All right friends, it's time for the annual request/nag/beg you until you agree to run for a PANA office. For those who have never seen the PANA Board in action, I suggest you attend the next meeting to see just what goes on. I think you'll find it both stimulating and satisfying. This organization has made a wonderful contribution to the profession of nurse anesthesia both in Pennsylvania, and nationally. It's time everyone made the effort to get involved. Logon to the Members Section of www.pana.org, and follow the link to complete the willingness to serve form. Information is available on the web form relating to requirements for each position. If you don't remember your password, use the "Forgotten Your Password" link to have it emailed to you. If you've received this newsletter, we have your correct email address! If you are totally web phobic and your son, daughter or significant other is reading you this, just call (610-841-4910) or Email Julie Antidormi, CRNA (jules1@ptd.net) Nominating Committee Chair, and tell her your interested in running. PANA PAC's Calling You... This past year has been one of the biggest years yet politically for the PANA and the profession of nurse anesthesia in Pennsylvania. You would be hard-pressed to find a legislator in Harrisburg who does not know what a nurse anesthetist is, or is capable of. As little as five years ago, I could not say this. One of the reasons for our success, was the wonderful response last year from CRNA's who contributed to the PANA PAC fund. In an effort to make 2006 an even better year, the PANA has consulted with a telemarketing firm to solicit PAC donations. I know, I know, everyone hates telemarketers, until they serve your goals. Believe me, this serves the goals of every CRNA in Pennsylvania. Please consider a donation when they call. Before you delete the rest of this message, consider that a donation of as little as 1 hours pay, helped make us competitive last year. For those who have never made a contribution, please do so today! Print out the online PANA PAC donation form and send it with your check. Make Plans to Attend the AANA Mid Year Assembly in Washington, DC. The Mid-Year Assembly is good training ground for those interested in taking CRNA issues to Capitol Hill. Learn the most effective and appropriate methods for lobbying on Capitol Hill. There will also be an in depth analysis of issues relevant to CRNA lobbying.Another Great Resource on www.pana.org I'm not sure if you are aware, but there is a great clinical resource available on www.pana.org. We've collected Powerpoint presentations from past PANA Symposium and Fall Meetings and made them available for download. Titles include trauma and fluid management, ACLS and PALS review, as well as a look at 12 lead EKG interpretation. Go to the Online resource page to see what's available. The PANA also makes available an online Pediatric Dose Calculator. Plug in your patients weight, age and preop hemoglobin, and dosage ranges are calculated for most anesthesia and resucitative drugs. Thanks to Rubber Mallet Software for providing this world famous resource. On the Side... Congratulations to Nazareth Hospital School of Nurse Anesthesia's own Bruce Kilpatrick RN, BSN for being chosen as the CRNA-PAC student representative to the AANA! Also the Student representative to the PANA, he's a man with great energy and enthusiasm. Ok, I'm nagging, everyone reading this make ten copies of this black and white poster and tack it up on every telephone pole and convenience store in your neighborhood to celebrate the profession of Nurse Anesthesia! |
